Pastor Donnie Burchfield

Pastor Donnie Burchfield also known as Coach Burchfield was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. He has been a resident of Lake County Florida for over 20 years where he has spent the duration of that time serving as an educator, Pastor, Coach, and Entrepreneur. Donnie is a proud graduate of the University of Central Florida. 

Currently Pastor Donnie is the Lead Pastor of New Wave Christian Church in Clermont, FL which launched in 2019 after 16 years of being in ministry. New Wave started with five individuals and has grown tremendously over the past year with a focus on young adults and youth. Pastor Donnie has always been known for his heart for the next generation and spends a lot of time speaking at youth events around Central Florida, coaching, and hosting events to reach youth. He also has a passion for local outreach and making a lasting impact on his surrounding communities.

Donnie and his wife of 19 years Cassandra “Sandi” Burchfield also own and operate Family Life Counseling Center (FLCC) which has 7 office locations throughout Lake, Polk, and Orange Counties. Donnie and Sandi have made a huge impact inside Lake County Schools with their team of almost 50 therapists. FLCC works with youth and adults struggling with grief, depression, anxiety, addictions, self-esteem, and many other family/individual struggles. With a heart for reaching the youth in our community Donnie and Sandi offer unique approaches such music therapy, art therapy, creative arts therapy, and sports therapy.

One of Donnie’s favorite things to do is coach young men at South Lake High School where he is the Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. For the past 20 years Donnie has been a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for multiple sports including Football, Wrestling, Track, and Basketball. Mentoring young men is one of the greatest callings in his life! He chooses to do more than be a coach but instead chooses to do life with each athlete with a focus on helping them become the best they can be in Christ Jesus!

Finally, Donnie has been involved with FCA for over 16 years serving as a coach, FCA club sponsor, and FCA huddle leader averaging over 100 students at their morning huddle meetings at South Lake High School. He was blessed to be chosen for the FCA Chairman’s Champ Award in 2019. His motto is Love God, Love Others, It's that Simple!
